Off The Field continued

I agree I certainly get the feeling that LP and his crew have seized upon the recent sad event as an excuse for a cancellation. I watched the Surrey AGM a few months ago, that was streamed live. They didn't take any questions from anyone on-line as far as I remember but it was streamed and open for anyone to watch, even journalists.

Perhaps they just don't have anything to hide.

A bit of a dilemma for me, where to mention this item, it concerns women's cricket, which is bad enough for some people, but this isn't even a pure Yorkshire team and rather than create a new thread decided here is probably best place .....

Not long home and looking at cricket scores. I see in the Rachel Hayhoe Silver Lining Cup that Northern Diamonds scored 334 - 6 and beat Western Storm's 230 all out in 50 overs. I think 334 is a cracking good score for any 50 overs a side game. I know it's ladies and I know its slightly shorter boundaries but still. Well done. Top scorer Hollie Armitage with 131 off 131 balls. Winfield-Hill and Heath also scored in 70's.
Katie Levick took 4 for 41

I appreciate Northern Diamonds are akin to some people to the Hundred playing women's team (Northern Superchargers).in that it is a made-up name for a Yorkshire and the North East amalgam team. They play at Headingley, Chester- le-street and two other grounds). They don't play the Hundred but longer forms of proper cricket.

I'll confess that when the Hundred started I went to some games last year to take a considered view. Generally I don't like it but the women's game was better. 50 0vers a side women's cricket is good to watch, includes all the elements, different physical attributes but a surprisingly skilful game with better manners and less alcohol on the terraces (you can read that both ways)

Katie Levick is coming to talk at the Northern Cricket Society's final monthly winter speaker evening next April. Phoebe Graham spoke at one last winter and was very interesting.

I like Katie Levick on commentary. I might come along to that.

She's so understated and downright Yorkshire she makes me smile and brings back fond memories of my eldest sister.

Later edit, just taken a look at some of the highlights and the attendance appears pitiful.

So the Mail Online posted this late last night. AG has now reportedly agreed compensation for 'unfair dismissal' meaning the grounds we have already discussed. If all 16 come to agreement, presumably with 'gagging orders', then I imagine the Tribunal does not take place. The total money put to one side for the financial compensation is £1.9 million. £1.9 million........ One influential member said recently that he imagines LP will be gone soon and the membership/club will have to work with the financial mess, 'pick up the pieces'.

Apart from the fact that the club can't afford it, I hope the six figure sum is up there with the amount the former Chief Executive got.

The very best of luck to Gale and Pyrah and Fisher and the others. Let's hope the next steps allows them to clear their reputations and get back into cricket, if that's what they want to do.

Yes, good luck to all of them. They may have been guilty of various actions - so might I, and so might you, and so might Lord Patel - but they have never been found guilty of anything by any properly constituted legal process.

Without Law, properly administered, we are barbarians.

True - and put bluntly, Gale is the only one who might conceivably have had any kind of case to answer in terms of disciplinary/employment processes. The remainder, based on all the available evidence, were found guilty of asking for a balanced judgement. I don't doubt that some of the change was necessary, but Lord Patel's conduct has been disgraceful.

Just clearing e-mails and out of interest checked out membership at Trent Bridge for next season: Senior £ 144

That's about £60 less than Headingley basically like for like as far as I can tell . I know they're Division 2 but hopefully not for long,

Nice ground at Trent Bridge, good facilities, if it was nearer, I'd be tempted. Makes you think
