It appears he is to return to Zimbabwe, has promised not to sign for another County during the 2023 season, and doesn't believe he can get back to playing cricket whilst still at Yorkshire.

Sorry to hear that and even sorrier he was unable to return to 1st team cricket after some powerful innings for the 2nds.
However I suppose like other players who leave and get their mojo back eg Alex Lees, it sometimes it requires a move to press the re-set button.

I think that his health, physical and mental have been in doubt for some 2 - 3 years and I don't just mean the Rafiq business.
I wish him well, I hope he recovers to play cricket again, ideally not against us though, well at least not for a year or two.

How sad but , thinking about it, very logical and probably inevitable. Sad, sad, sad. Best Wishes to him. He will be badly missed. The Wail, a Donnylad named the paper. did predict his departure. I think that newspaper, unpleasant as I find the front pages, has a contact at YCCC for the back pages!

Thank you all for your support, I responded to the unfortunate post on that other place. I find if someone is deliberately being offensive taking a 'not rising to the bait' approach is best (for me) as then I don't get angry and it can puzzle and frustrate the original poster. I suspect that alcohol is often behind anonymous posts of this type and one of the reasons I don't do facebook, twitter or any other u social media - these cricket forums are the nearest I get and you can disagree but in an informative way. I'm always learning as although I love cricket ,I don't have the depth of knowledge or understanding of most.

I doubt if that sort of person ever feels uncomfortable, because he knows he's always right. We unfortunate Knuckle Draggers may have doubts, but single cell organisms have few.
