It appears he is to return to Zimbabwe, has promised not to sign for another County during the 2023 season, and doesn't believe he can get back to playing cricket whilst still at Yorkshire.

Best wishes for his future mental health and I hope to see him playing cricket again soon.

Sorry to hear that and even sorrier he was unable to return to 1st team cricket after some powerful innings for the 2nds.

However I suppose like other players who leave and get their mojo back eg Alex Lees, it sometimes it requires a move to press the re-set button.

Best of luck Gary , Good health, success and happiness.

Sad. A top batsman.
I think that his health, physical and mental have been in doubt for some 2 - 3 years and I don't just mean the Rafiq business.

I wish him well, I hope he recovers to play cricket again, ideally not against us though, well at least not for a year or two.

Very sad to hear this, he was a wonderful batsman and unlucky not to play more for England. I hope he recovers quickly. I can't help but feel the YCCC management badly let him down with the whole AR affair.

Its a shame that he couldn't make it back to the first class game with us, but better given all the issues to let him try again elsewhere in due course. Rumour is it will probably be in Zimbabwe, with suggestions he could be playing tests for them within the year.

How sad but , thinking about it, very logical and probably inevitable. Sad, sad, sad. Best Wishes to him. He will be badly missed. The Wail, a Donnylad named the paper. did predict his departure. I think that newspaper, unpleasant as I find the front pages, has a contact at YCCC for the back pages!

Karma - I see your appreciation of Gary Ballance on WRF has produced a response which might be said to be 'immoderate'. Please feel welcome to sit next to a fellow 'knuckle dragger' at Headingley (or anywhere else) next summer, and let's see if we can have a conversation. limited to grunts though we may be.

yes, just had a look at that. Surprised it was not edited or moderated. Mind you the poster was Hawkeye, surely no relation?

Well I appreciate your kind comment, I'll take my time in saying something in response because it's got to be something he or she understands . I mightveven quote from the bible but might be wasted

We could huddle together in a corner at Headingley as the Knuckle Draggers Popular Front, and hurl abuse at other members, whilst sharing a bag of otters spleens

Now, would those be dry roast otter spleens, or are you going for the salted variety?

I'd have to pass on the otter spleen though I'd defend you right to consume them.

Thank you all for your support, I responded to the unfortunate post on that other place. I find if someone is deliberately being offensive taking a 'not rising to the bait' approach is best (for me) as then I don't get angry and it can puzzle and frustrate the original poster. I suspect that alcohol is often behind anonymous posts of this type and one of the reasons I don't do facebook, twitter or any other u social media - these cricket forums are the nearest I get and you can disagree but in an informative way. I'm always learning as although I love cricket ,I don't have the depth of knowledge or understanding of most.

hawkeye58's post was taken down from that other place but not at my request. However it's still on that other place because I replied specifically to it and with a reply that at first sight is mild and inoffensive. If hawkeye58 reads it they might feel a little uncomfortable with my googlie.

I doubt if that sort of person ever feels uncomfortable, because he knows he's always right. We unfortunate Knuckle Draggers may have doubts, but single cell organisms have few.

I thought they were ocelot spleens, and to describe them as 'otter' may be heretical.

'Ocelot spleens' is correct as is' Badger spleens' (much easier to collect from a road near you)

"Any proper food ?" " Blessed are the Cheesemakers" - it's the veggie choice.

That person probably can't remember . However his post resulted in loads of people liking my post wishing Gary all the best, I suppose he's now erroneously and vicariously praising the person he most despises and blames for Yorkshire plight.

Is that Irony or Karma? Actually both methinks
