okay so donnylad reminds me that we have not posted our predictions as we usually do, partly because I am overcome with negative feelings this winter....please post your predictions by this Sunday 12 midday... or if we don't have enough submitted by then I will extend the deadline. If Yorkshire are docked points then I will ignore the docking for this comp., as also it would be mad to dock points because of management who have gone read the tea leaves badly over how to report back to the ECB and public. ... these can be amended up to Sun midday or beyond if we extend the deadline

my first thoughts are, sadly,

(oh 3 points for a correct place, 2 if one out and 1 if two out...3 bonus points each for first and relegated places)

1 Lancs
2 Essex
3 Hants
4 Warwicks
5 Som
6 Surrey
7 Yorks
8 Kent
9 Glos
10 Northants

Think you've mixed up Surrey and Hants Donny, unless so many former Surrey players are now at Hants that they are the Surrey B team. With their track record on imports, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise.

EDIT Donnylad NOW thinks (with thanks to tbsteve)

1 Essex
2 Lancs
3 Surrey
4 Warwicks
5 Yorks
6 Hants
7 Somerset
8 Kent
9 Gloucs
10 Northants

The Hampshire foreign legion* is fine clouting Somerset's aging (well Siddle is nearly 38) and spin orientated attack for 400+.

*Just the one 'ampshire' lad, Weatherley (who made a lot of runs) along with 10 assorted Saffers, an Aussie American, an Indian, some Surrey cast-offs and a Lanky - my late father in law will be revolving in his funeral smoke.

On the other hand he may be smiling since Hants have just done Somerset in a little over 2 and a half days ....

So we can post some scores and positions for though Surrey and Glos have played a match more than the others they seem to be in fair positions, that is well clear and bottom respectively.

Byased is the only one of us who chose Surrey to be top and they currently are. We all tipped Essex to finish higher than they are at the moment. My negative thinking about Yorks has cost be a couple of points on the others.

Byased 25
Dave M 23
tbSt 19
Donny 18
Newby and Hawke 17

It can all change!

My head is spinning with league tables. Please feel free to check your own scores. I think I underscored DM and Newby last time. So shame-faced in every way the placings after the first 6 matches, with all teams having played 6, are.....I think.....

Newby 25
DM 24
byased 21
tbSt 17
Donnylad 14
Hawke 10

very impressive scores at the top

I'll be really chuffed if we can maintain our third place or even improve on it come the end of the season. Get a bowler or two fit and who knows.

One thing strikes me - under these new CC rules by the **** ECB, we're due to play Surrey, Lancs, Hants and Essex twice, but Northants, Kent and Somerset only once - that means the current top 4 teams twice and 3 of the bottom 4, only once. there is so much boas in the league now that we don't play everyone home and away.

Why not play everyone once and then look at the league positions and play either odd or even teams (excluding us) a second time so that there is a fairer spread?

Just checked and I am glad to say we are playing Glos twice. Though the home game is the last one, at Headingley in late September. Hopefully it’s not rain affected. And we play Warwickshire once which may this season not be as good as playing them twice,

Not all teams have played the same number of matches but looking at the points then we can safely say the following is accurate

Newby and byased. 20
Dave M. tbSteve Donnylad 15
Hawke 13

So all have now played 13 and here are our current prediction scores.

byased 19
Newby 18
Hawke 17
Donnylad 14
DM and steve 13

It was apt that byased should be at The Oval to see Surrey win the title as that secured him 6 points, the only one of us to predict the brown caps' glory. Byased is not so far ahead as he did not predict the current bottom 2. Glos have gained most of us 5 or 6 points. Warwickshire and Northants have confounded our predictions.
