    Gary Ballance.

I see Gary is only the second player in Test history to make hundreds for two different countries, following Kepler Wessels.

So in my absence at soccer Ilkley got a good win and seem to be secure on their new division. Yes advantage Sedge. Indeed Leeds T do not know if its 2 or 3 down. Daft. Italy seem to be justifying their place after all. Don't like to see England losing but the 6 Nations does have the...

So I went to see Bradford City v Mansfield Town last Saturday as I helped with a pre-match collection. Great view from the main stand and also of the valley opposite. The special school I worked at moved to a large comprehensive in 2010 and I could see the ground from my new classroom window...

    ECB hearings

There are a couple of items behind paywalls. I rmust have read the Tim Bresnan one before the wall went up! He just thinks that Azeem Rafiq and his team 'own the agenda' helped by George Dobell and that the ECB will not dare look at the matter impartially. There have been a couple of pieces...

    Gary Ballance.

Speaking of Kraigg, he is a lovely fellow as proved on a Northern Cricket Zoom meeting last winter

    ECB hearings

Of course the cases go ahead without the 'defendants'. It will be interesting to see what transpires with Vaughan and Pyrah. Vaughan has a career to defend as well. Pyrah, I heard on good authority, was offered a job as a county bowling coach, but has turned his back on the game and now...

I am helping with a collection at Bradford City so can't get to watch Ilkley v Pavoirs. Another big game to win to keep way from the relegation places. I see the Yorkshire Welshman is in the Wales starting line-up. Tomas Francis, well a Welsh-sounding name (he has a maternal Welsh...

    What you could be doing:

Just had 4 days in London. Unexpectedly drove through Kingston-upon-Thames and just as I remarked that I thought Sir Leonard had died there - he certainly lived there - we passed the hospital where I think the great batsman died, this having been past the place of his birth in Fulneck many times.

I am sure I read we have seam bowlers training in Dubai and some batsmen who are going out to Pakistan. Bess and Shutt are also going to a specialist coach. Not sure who is left at Headingley.... but sounds positive.

    Rugby Football 22-23

I always want England rugby union and cricket to win of course but I rarely watch either. When I do hear Owen Farrell interviewed it always surprises but pleases me that he talks with a northern accent but I am also sad that the Farrells, Ford, Edwards etc are lost to RL. I suppose they are...

South Africa v England ODI Series.

I hope Malan is saving up a few runs for YCCC. Looks like decent practice for a lengthy county season. Glad we allowed the ECB to take him.

    Northern Cricket Society

So the Northern Cricket Society celebrated its 75th Anniversary last night at Sand Moor Golf Club, Leeds with a pie and pea supper - higher quality than you may imagine, and a question and answer session with Steve Patterson. Steve came over really well as you can imagine, honest, sincere...

    Off The Field continued

I like to think the best of people, especially the vast vast vast vast majority of Yorkshire cricketers! But I also suspect that many cricketers know only cricket, and have spent much of their lives trying to be the best player they can be, day on day. I am not therefore convinced the...
